If you're a New Yorker (and even if you're not), there's a good chance you saw Gothamist's video of the Lima-A-Rita-drinking L train rider yelling racial slurs and then getting what he deserved, when fellow train riders kicked him off the train and one threw soup in his face. It turns out the soup thrower is none other than rising local rapper Princess Nokia! In a series of tweets, she said:

this bigot called a group of teenage boys 'niggers' on the train so I stood up and slapped him and everybody on the train backed me up. When I slapped him he called me a nigger, and when I did all my brothers on the train came to my side and held my hand and comforted me. although painful and humiliating we stood together and kicked this disgusting racist off the train so we could ride in peace away from him. And yes I threw hot soup in this mans face and kicked him off off the train, and kicked in the face. Any other racists wanna try us again?

The important matter is: I will do anything to defend the honor of my brothers and sisters #blacklivesmatter. I witness blatant racism in public constanly, and it is heartbreaking to witness such hatred and bigotry go Un defended. It take alot of risks trying to stand up to racist & bigots. Putting yourself in potential danger is scary ASF, esp as a young women. But I be damned if i let some drunk bigot call a group of young teenage boys racist names and allow him to get away with it.

Many have shown Princess Nokia support, including fellow NYC artist Kimya Dawson, who replied, 'I love you and I love NY' to Princess Nokia.

Princess Nokia recently signed to Rough Trade Records and put out a deluxe edition of last year's 1992 mixtape featuring eight new songs. She has also been raising money to help out with hurricane relief for Puerto Rico. Pictures of her recent Villain show are in the gallery above.

Gothamist points to some now-deleted Facebook posts from the Lime-A-Rita drinker (whose name is Paul Lawson), responding to the incident. He wrote: 'For all of you who saw that unfortunate video I'm getting help and really don't know how it came up in the first place; and if it makes you feel any better I had my head broke open the next day so there's that...' He later added, 'It seems that a lot of hearsay set me off as usual; I'm not that sorry I feel bad I used that word but I was making a point, lots of comedians do that; it's the first fucking amendment and look at the liberal mob beating up the peaceful protester now fucking losers.'
